Taurus Serial Numbers
All,
Being new to this forum, I am sure that this question has already been asked and a couple of you will send me the links to the previous posts...so I apologize before-hand.But...I recently bought a new Taurus 1911 and the serial number prefix is "NBM". Can anyone tell me what I can gather from this prefix? Is this a recent build gun, an old one? How do the prefixes work?
I ask because I hear (read) that the early Taurus weapons had more problems than the later ones...
Thanks,
Dave

Several folks have asked questions about Taurus' serial numbers, but I don't remember ever seeing a reply. You may have to go through Taurus to see of they can give you any info (share it, if you get it).
Since you already have it, put a couple hundred rounds through it and see how it runs. There have been several polls posted about Taurus PT1911 reliability, and from the responses I gather the problems are not as great as people make them out.
Plus, it's a 1911, if something breaks, fix it. If you don't like something, change it. That's the best part of owning this style of pistol.

I just picked up my new PT1911AL yesterday and the serial # is "NBU" Since the aluminum frame guns have not been out very long, I guess is it should not be too old.Originally Posted by lucasner

Picked my Stainless Steel PT-1911 new in the beginning of November and it has a NBO...
If we get enough people to post theirs on here we could figure it out.
On another note my rebate for $75.00 just came in
It took just a month for me to get it back.

Two pt1911's here we go
Pt1911 HD black purchased 2 and a half years ago: serial# NAO
pt1911 talon black bought last year 2008 : NASIf I remember correctly, someone help if they know but the serial number in it's letters section should have a W in them to be official military type.
hope this helps.
